Did you expect to be in this situation two months ago? I did not. Yet here we are. Let’s make the best of it and get on, getting on with four great events this week.
Things to Do This Week
Here are four things you can do this week to move along the laid off to employed continuum.
Monday through Friday - Start networking. On Monday, I’ll share my steps and how introverts can network. I will not lie to you. Networking is scary, hard and I hate it too. But we must do it.
Tuesday Noon EST Webinar - 7 Steps to Job Search Success. Join us to review how you can go from shock to success quickly, including when to use GenAI in your search.
Wednesday 6pm EST Happy Hour - Join me in Durham, NC (or this one in ATL) for a drink to celebrate our unexpected freedom from employment. Live elsewhere? Create a happy hour in your town too.
Thursday Noon EST AMA - How to Manage Layoff Trauma? Your mental health matters. Find out how to manage the stress of job searching while unemployed.

How to Start Networking
Before I get to that tomorrow, please take the time to figure out what you want to do, and in which industry. You can rethink your past roles or get crazy and dream big. Either way, before you start networking, figure out your direction.
I’m researching the digital product manager role, which seems to be the right title at larger companies, though I’ll probably be a senior digital transformation director at a smaller organization.
See how I am leaving my options open, but staying fixed on my skills? You can do the same thing. Do it now, if you haven’t done it already, and be ready to network this week.
