Please RSVP Now: 3 Special Events for You This Week
And more to come as you embark on the Never Search Alone process
I am excited to be matched for a Job Search Council - teams of us working together to help each other find our next dream job. This team-based approach to working through the seven steps of the job search should help us all find the job we want, faster and better than doing it alone.
Want to be matched with your peers? Sign up here! We’ll be doing another match this Friday.
Events to Help You Search
In addition to helping you form teams; we also have three events lined up to support your job search.
Tuesday, 8am EST Webinar: How to make the transition from development with Scott Beale, who most recently was the Peace Corps Director and is now an executive coach for people like us.
Tuesday, Noon EST Webinar: What is happening in the courts with Sabrina Segal, who is following all the court cases in detail, so you don’t have to. She’ll be walking us through which lawsuits matter and why.
Wednesday, Noon EST AMA: How to use GenAI in the job search with the founder of Job Search with AI, a newsletter that can help you navigate the many tools and tricks of Generative AI.
We’re also working hard to have new events for you this week. We plan on announcing futrue events earlier so you can plan better.
PS: I apologize for the tardiness of this announcement. I took a mental break this week and enjoyed my family. Please focus on your metal health too.
How to Transition from Development?
Moving on from international development is hard. I laugh at even typing that sentence. I know you know this. You and I are living this nightmare every day.
What are our options?
Where are the opportunities?
Why should we be optimistic?
Scott Beale has lived this moment before. He worked in a senior role, left to start his own NGO, and then went back to government. Now he’s left again. Learn from his journey and be inspired by his story. We need to be uplifted, and Scott will help.
What is Happening in the Courts?
I think there are three different lawsuits on the USAID funding freeze and staff dismissals. But honestly, I cannot keep track. There are more lawsuits on other Executive Orders that are impacting the Federal government - including one on DEI that could have major ramifications.
What lawsuits are the most interesting?
Which ones will impact us and public service overall?
How should we interpret the many TROs and PIs?
Sabrina Segal is following all the court cases in detail. She has insights and opinions on the cases that can help us understand which ones matter and why. I’m very excited that she’ll talk with us about what is happening in the courts today.
How to Use GenAI in the Job Search?
ChatGPT is awesome - if you know how to use it well. There are many other tools too - Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek - and probably a new one launching today. But which ones work best in the job searching process? How to make it work for us?
I know ChatGPT can benefit me with fast and free services like:
Reviewing your resume in seconds.
Improving your LinkedIn profile with a few clicks.
Practicing your interview with detailed analysis of your responses.
The question is, how to use it and when? What are the prompts that will get results?
