Breaking News! Career Pivot Reached 1 Million Subscribers Today
We are so proud of reaching this amazing milestone in record time - just two short months!
For Immediate Release - April 1, 2025 - Chapel Hill NC: Career Pivot reached an amazing milestone today. The new Substack newsletter for job searchers from the Federal ecosystem reached 1 million subscribers.
Wayan Vota launched Career Pivot on February 1, while hung over from losing his job on January 31, 2025. Why else would he choose a name so common as to be almost un-Googleable?
He started with zero subscribers and a stale beer. After two short months publishing news, insights, and guides for those looking for a new career, he now leads a 1,000,000-strong community of action.
Reached while touring the remaining public North Carolina universities with his teen daughters, he said, “I am honored by the trust and confidence of so many professionals. I hope I don’t screw this up. I don’t wanna star in my own Fail Festival.”
Career Pivot focuses on staff from Federal agencies and the contractors, consultants, and NGO professionals that worked with and for the Federal government.
It began with those impacted by the illegal and immoral USAID funding freeze and has since expanded to everyone impacted by the clown car chaos of this Administration.
“I know what's been going on. I know the game. I knew Wayan was gonna play it too. He didn't let me down. He didn't lie and hurt me. He delivered and I got a new job!“ said Richard Paul. of CFPB.
Career Pivot is driven by a core group of advisors who guide the site’s content. One advisor, Shanthi Noriega (no relation to Manuel), remarked at how professional the team is after just 2 months.
She said, “I can't believe that my 2-hour Signal chat on how to file for unemployment has better info sec than Hegseth.”
About Career Pivot
Career Pivot is a community of action. We know the calling that is Federal service. The joys of working at contractors and as consultants that support Federal objectives. Underpaid, underloved, and unemployed under duress.
We want to help make the world a better place - if only someone would pay us to do so. We are scared of losing our humanitarian ethos in a new higher productivity job in the private sector.
